The first step to adopting an animal from TLC Rescue is to fill out an Adoption Application. Once it is complete, if it looks like your lifestyle might match with the dog you are interested in, an appointment will be made to come visit. TLC Rescue uses foster homes and our cell dog program, so an appointment MUST be made to visit.  This is considered a home visit.

The home visit is to determine the home is a safe environment, to make the dog and the family get along and is a good match, and to make sure the dog and other pets in the family get along.  There are times we are not able to do the home visit with the dog due to distance. In this case, a volunteer in your area may do the home visit.

TLC Rescue is self supported. Our income comes from the adoption donations and small donations from the public. Because of this, we need to charge an adoption donation to help defray the costs associated with feeding and the medical treatment for the animals, and also for transport costs. All of our dogs are brought up to date on medical needs, including spaying/neutering, deworming, age appropriate shots, and some are microchiped. Because of the costs involved we can not lower adoption fees. The adoption donation we require is:

Ages 11 months and under is $300
Ages one thru nine is $275
Over the age of 10 is $125

Please feel free to contact us with questions.  You may send us an email to tlcescue@tlcrescue.com or by calling us.

For those who don't understand why we have to charge an adoption donation, below are some of the things we pay for before we adopt out the animal. Each animal has it's own particular case and needs different things and come from different locations, but all require expenses that we must get back in order to help others. Ask your vet how much it would cost for some of these common services:

Transport fees
Spay/Neuter
Distemper vaccination
Rabies vaccination
Bordetella
Heartworm test
Microchip

Then there is also the cost of Frontline/Revolution and Heartguard.  Not to mention deworming medication, and food and treating any other illnesses. If a dog has to be treated for heartworm, then you can add another $350(AVG) to their bill. As you can see, fees add up.
